
So it’s been a while since I last updated the blog, as you can see I finished the re-build of my Felt, i’m very happy with the end result! The goal was for the bike to weigh under 8kgs complete, it now weighs 7.46kgs complete which i’m very happy with. I don’t think this can be considered a true weight weenie bike but I do have all the component weights for anyone interested! The last piece in the puzzle and making a big difference was the FSA SL-K Light carbon crankset, bought second hand for £100 this weighed a massive 153g less than the original gossamer crankset!
For the rest of the drivetrain I went with a 33T inner chainring and a 12-30 cassette to help with the harder climbs locally. With fast rolling Continental GP4000S II tyres the bike is a pleasure to ride and the low gearing was perfect when I rode this years L’Étape du Tour in 5hrs 42. Check out the rest of the build below.
